I'll second the recommendation for Purses in Pieces. I have a copy and it is a small, but excellent book. It made me realise that the vast majority of reproduced 'kidney' purses are all wrong, and it made the strangely nonfunctional reconstructions in _Dress Accessories_ make sense for what they actually are.
